Growing up in rural America, I was taught there were three subjects you had to take great caution with when discussing; religion, sexual orientation and politics. They were more than sensitive issues… They were ways people defined themselves and lived by.
My father was a big advocate for the power of conversation, but he always told us not to give your opinion unless asked. There were, at times, a few exceptions. On the flipside, he warned us to be prepared for an answer you may not like if you’ve asked another for their opinion.
Politics are filling the news these days, and everyone has an opinion. Rightly so, it’s part of the joy of being an American. So on the anniversary of our country, lets celebrate our right to freely express our opinions. Enjoy the video.
