I recently had the privilege of speaking with teachers and other faculty and staff at my high school alma mater. (Webster’s claim’s alma mater is only used at the university level as a sign of prestige, but my former high school deserves it!)
For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to give back to my community for all they’ve done for me since becoming disabled. I’ve wanted to do it through our school system. I feel in my heart of hearts, while I have many missions, my most desired to accomplish involves children.
Why? It’s simple. As corny as it sounds, children are the future. If I can have any type of positive influence on the future by sharing my experiences living with a disability, I say let my disability be the opportunity to do so. Enjoy the video below.
