Three Times The Minimum Wage
Elizabeth Warren is a Senator from Massachusetts. She was on a political program recently and she told a story regarding her father’s death, leaving her mother with three children to support.
Never having a job, her mom put on her best dress, her best high heel shoes and walked to the local department store. I believe it was JCPenney’s. She was able to get a job that paid minimum wage. With that minimum wage job as her only source of income, she was able to keep a roof over her family’s head, kept them fed and kept clothes on their backs.
A minimum wage job kept a family of four afloat. That was fifty years ago. Since each generation improves from the previous one, by now a minimum wage job must do more than just keep a family of four afloat, right? Wrong. Watch and see.
